Imagine you want to install a new app in your smartphone, You click on the "Google Play Store" icon and you search for the app you are going to download. Just before the app downloads you have to accept some permissions. If you refuse those permissions, the app won't be installed. You decide to accept them and then, the app is downloading.
Now the app is installed in your smartphone. In some cases, such as all the social networks, before your access they will ask you to agree to the famous ?terms and conditions?, so you click on ?I accept? unconsciously, without knowing what you have just accepted.
As you are used to accept all those permissions without reading them, you have allowed the app to access to your personal data, so the company that has created the app is able to know where you are, who you call or the photos you take.
And what happens if you uninstall the app? Maybe you think the app is useless, or it isn?t what you were expecting but, anyway, you don?t want to have the app installed in your smartphone. You will probably think that if you uninstall and app, nobody will be able to access to your data, but you are wrong. They will.
Fortunately, thanks to the latest updates on Android devices, you can arrange the permissions you give. How? You won?t have to accept the permissions by installing the app, but whenever the app has to use one of the functions of the smartphone, you will have to accept (or refuse) the permission. However, if you refuse it the app will constantly ask you for that permission unless you click on the ?Don?t ask again? tab.
Although you can arrange the permissions only when the app ask you for, you can also manage them in the settings of your smartphone. This way you can know all the permissions you have given to the app, which of them are important for its running and which aren?t.
Now we are going to tell you how you can manage all those permissions. You only have to click on ?Settings?, then on ?Apps?, and finally on ?Advanced settings?. Then you have access to the ?App permissions? part, and you can manage all of them.
Finally, we are going to give you some permissions you can manage:
Music and videos
Calls and messaging
Now it?s your turn. If you don?t want your data to be spread, check out your settings and learn how to manage all the permissions. It?s not very difficult, and your data will be safe.
