¿Qué es una licencia de software?. ¿Existe el software gratuito?

Las licencias de software son unos contratos en los que el usuario acepta los términos y condiciones del fabricante para poder hacer uso del software. 

Las licencias que se adquieran (independientemente de si son de pago o gratuitas) serán más restrictivas o menos. Dependiendo de si el software es libre o propietario, estos términos y condiciones serán más restrictivos o menos.

Por tanto, las licencias son los permisos que un fabricante o desarrollador proporciona para la distribución, uso y/o modificación del software. Las licencias pueden estar limitadas a periodos de tiempo, variar según el territorio donde se aplica (ya que las licencias deben cumplir con las leyes locales), etc.

A continuación, los tipos de licencia de software que se utilizan con mayor frecuencia:

Freeware: Es la licencia que se otorga con los programas gratuitos, sin límites ni en el tiempo ni en la funcionalidad del programa.

Shareware y Trial: Estos programas pueden ser utilizados de manera gratuita pero comúnmente son versiones de prueba, lo que el tiempo de uso es limitado. Una vez finalizado el tiempo de prueba hay que comprar el programa completo o desinstalarlo.

Adware: suelen ser programas shareware, pero al instalarlos de forma automática nos muestra publicidad; en ocasiones al ejecutarlo y en otras solamente al instalarle. Cuando se compra la versión de la licencia completa, normalmente se elimina la publicidad. 

Software libre: En este, el autor entrega el programa para que sea usado, modificado, copiado y distribuido. Normalmente, estos sirven de base para otros programas que si pueden ser de pago pero que suelen ser baratos.

En definitiva, el software libre es aquel que dispone de cuatro libertades, se puede usar, ejecutar, distribuir, modificar y mejorar libremente. El software de código abierto, a pesar de que puede confundirse con el software libre, no es igual, ya que no respeta las 4 libertades del software libre.

Por lo que, al software gratuito, este no se puede modificar, vender o distribuir libremente.

Android y Apps, ¿qué son?

Android es el sistema operativo que utilizan los teléfonos móviles para funcionar. Permite la descarga de aplicaciones de diversas funcionalidades. Fue creado por Google. Como todo sistema operativo consta de características:

- Diseño: Un software de forma abierta que permite la personalización y su interfaz de belleza y simplicidad.

- Seguridad: Fácil de configurar, permite tener mayor control y confianza en relación con datos personales y también permite ubicar geográficamente por medio del GPS un dispositivo extraviado o robado. Ofrece diversas opciones de bloqueo y desbloqueo por huella dactilar. Permite bloquear el sistema de la terminal en caso de hurto.

- Actualizaciones: Consta de una gran cantidad de actualizaciones disponibles tanto del sistema propiamente dicho como de las diferentes aplicaciones, se adaptan a la versión del sistema operativo.

-Aplicaciones: Es uno de los componentes más utilizados por los usuarios, hecho a través del lenguaje Java.

Apps (abreviatura de la palabra inglesa "Application" que significa, programa), es una aplicación de software que se puede utilizar en dispositivos móviles, tablets y ordenadores después de instalarla. Finalidad: ayudar al usuario a realizar algo, por motivo profesional o de ocio. Son más dinámicas que los programas, ocupan menos espacio y son más rápidas de instalar, cualquiera con ciertos conocimientos informáticos puede crear una aplicacióc para Android o iOS. ¿Cuánto cuesta el Windows, el office y algunos juegos conocidos?

Actualmente, la licencia de Windows 11, la versión más reciente de Windows, cuesta 142,99€ y la licencia de Windows 10 vale 62,95€.

El software de Microsoft 365, antes llamado Office, es un software que consta de diversas aplicaciones con distintos usos cada uno. Para acceder al uso de estas aplicaciones hay que pagar cierta cantidad de dinero según el plan por el cual decidamos optar. El plan Familiar cuesta 99€ al año y el Personal cuesta 69€ al año.

Otros ejemplos de software que podemos comprar son los videojuegos. Hay gran variedad de juegos y, por lo tanto, gran variedad de precios y calidades. Algunos videojuegos son gratis, sin embargo, dentro del juego existen las micro transacciones, es decir, la compra de objetos virtuales en el videojuego y de ahí obtienen beneficios. Varios ejemplos de videojuegos son:

Overwatch 2, que anteriormente costaba 20€, ahora es gratuito.

League of Legends, otro ejemplo de juego gratuito con micro transacciones en él.

Omori, juego independiente que cuesta 16,79€.

Sekiro Shadows Die Twice, juego de alta gamma con un valor de 60€.

¿Cuántas líneas de código tiene Windows 10? ¿Y algún juego conocido?

80 millones de líneas. ¿Te parece mucho? SI, 80 millones de lineas de codigo son las que ocupa el Windows 10 actualmente, el doble que en 2001 cuando salió a la luz el Windows XP.

Por poner algún otro ejemplo, Minecraft tiene alrededor de 5 millones de líneas de código, mientras que el Doom 3 apenas llega a las seiscientas mil, y el World of Warcraft tiene más de cinco millones y medio de líneas de código.

Si miramos el software de un coche actual podemos ver que la media es de unos 100 millones de líneas de código, la mayor cifra que hemos mencionado en el artículo.

Si, podemos pensar que el software de un coche es muy largo, pero aún no hemos mencionado la friolera de los dos mil millones de líneas de código que tiene todo Google, incluyendo el Google calendar, Drive y cualquier "apartado" de esta gran empresa. Así que no, podemos decir que 80 millones de líneas de código no son muchas.

What is a software license? Is there a free software?
Software licenses are contracts in which the user accepts the manufacturer's terms and conditions in order to use the software.

The licenses that are purchased (regardless of whether they are paid or free) can be more or less restrictive. Depending if the software is free or proprietary, the terms and conditions will be more or less restrictive.

Adware: they are usually shareware programs but when they are installed they automatically,  show us advertising; sometimes when executing it and in others cases, only when installing it. When you buy the full license version the ads are usually removed.

Free software: In this software the author delivers the program to be used, modified, copied and distributed. Normally these is used as the base for other programs that can be paid for, but they are usually cheap.

In short, free software is a software that has four freedoms, it can be freely used, executed, distributed, modified and improved freely. Open source software, despite the fact that it can be confused with free software, is not the same, since it doesn't respect the 4 freedoms of free software.

About free software, it cannot be freely modified, sold or distributed.

Android and Apps, what are they?
Android is the operating system that mobile phones use to function. It allows the download of applications with various functionalities. It was created by Google. Like any operating system, it has dfferent features:

- Design: An open software that allows customization, its interface consists of beauty and simplicity.

- Security: Easy to configure, it allows better control and confidence in relation to personal data and also allows to geographically locate using GPS a lost or stolen phone. It offers various fingerprint lock and unlock options. It allows to block the terminal system in case of theft.

- Updates: It consists of a large number of updates available both for the system itself and for the different applications, in which, they adapt to the version of the operating system.

-Applications: It is one of the components, the most used by users, made through the Java language.

Apps (abbreviation of the English word "Application" which means, program), is a software application that can be used on mobile devices, tablets and computers after installing it. Purpose: to help the user to do something, for professional or business reasons. They are more dynamic than programs, they take up less space and are faster to install, anyone with some computer knowledge can create an app for Android or iOS. How much does Windows, office and some well-known games cost?
